Greater New York (short version)

mp3

There were a few interesting works in PS 1. It does seem to me that the whole gallery/ museum circulation of discreet objects has become a self reflecting closed loop. The two works that stuck in my mind were both digital. One was by David Moreno . It was a sound piece. The other was a LCD piece in the furnace room. The name is Villeroi or villefranc .

Upstate Film Festival Judges

mp3

ADR sits on a panel in Narrowsburg, NY to judge digital film/video. The name of the festival is Digit. It's shaping up to be a contender for the European festivals. The kicker is that it's hooked into Bethel Woods, you know, the old Woodstock site that is being made into a music and arts center like Tanglewood, MA. Next year when the center opens the festival will be played at the site on a 60 foot screen. GH is on the development board.

Diana Cooper at Postmasters- NYC

mp3

A quick interview with Magda Sawan owner of Postmasters. The exhibit is Diana Cooper. Look at the pictures and see if you can describe the work. Magda does a good job. Talking about art can go beyond one liners.

Armory Show -NYC

The Armory Show - International Fair of New Art. Some of the more interesting exhibits play on the notion of "Art Fair." At Postmasters gallery Wolfgang Staehle exhibited a large chromolux still from a Fellini film with the caption," Art is lost in this town..." Deitch Project had a neo-punk cookie stand and was giving away free cookies. I got the brass knuckles. I somehow lost my interview with the director of the "homeless museum." His exhibit was a miniature plywood sort of lemonade stand resembling the advice stand that Lucy has in the Peanuts comic strip. Much of what was on display seemed to be one liners most of it tied in some way to commodity culture either in an embrace or a critique.

Art Dirt Redux goes to the DIVA set up in a swank Embassy Suites Hotel. Rob makes some pithy comments. I meet some beautiful women.
