Rob & I go to the Digital and Video Art Fair at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lower Manhattan right across from the WTC site. This year the DIVA was curated by Elga Wimmer. This is a great way to see great video and talk with some of the hippest dealers from around the world.

The first ADR Skypecast. Interview with Christina McPhee Christina is perhaps the most interesting "New Media" artist I've met in years. She deals with visceral sensations of trauma to the earth and landscape. I can't string together another superlatives to describe her work and who she is as a person. She's doing a project now with the town of La Conchita on the coast. You remember them, a town cut-off by a landslide La Conchita Mon Amour she's also the moderator of Empyre which is a global discussion list on new media art etc.. Her Whitney Museum artport project Carrizo-Parkfield Diaries is worth taking some time with.

Whitney Biennial Mashup (pt 1)

2006 Whitney Biennial. Actual artists statements mixed with Rob & my comments. The first mash-up of its kind. The statements are as inane as the exhibition. Oops, am I being insensitive? The political stuff was OK. Deep Dish TV was great. The big deal was the remake of Di Suvero's Freedom Tower from the 1960's protest days. It's a simulation of an actual protest piece.
